I haven't given you guys a mining update in some time. Well, blocks are getting hashed at on DOGE, LTC, and Monero. But I have made a couple of big changes that I wanted to update you guys on. First off, I moved my mining pool for XMR, and I had to make some changes to the setup because I miscalculated on the power needs for the solar setup.
New Monero Mining Pool and Dashboard
The first big update is that I have left the SupportXMR mining pool and moved my little bit of hash rate from my Mac M1 and M2s to the Monero Ocean mining pool. This decision was made because the SupportXMR pool managers was pulling some shady stuff and merge mining the new Tari blockchain with user hashrate and keeping the rewards for themselves. This didn't sit well with me so I moved on to another pool.
The Monero Ocean pool was recommended by several of the prominent XMR community members. They merge mine several tokens with XMR, but they actually swap all the other shitcoins into XMR and pay out the rewards to us miners. Also their online interface was similar to SupportXMR's so I knew I would be able to easily change my dashboard to hook up with their API. Not only was I able to easily change it, I was also able to access the worker data which SupportXMR didn't give me, so now I have the data for each individual worker.
Solar System Issues
Nothing in life is ever really that easy. Especially when it comes to power and the math around it, haha. I made some miscalculations in my setup, basically bought cheap ass Chinese panels that don't produce the power they are rated for. This caused a problem with the ASIC miners that are mining DOGE and LTC. They just drew more power than the system could really produce along with all the other stuff I had plugged into it, like cooling fans, and my Monero Macs.
So I have re-evaluated the situation and moved the ASICs back over to the grid and just eating the extra power costs through other business earnings. I do have all of the Monero Macs as well as my main computer setup now on the solar. I also built up a charging station for all my tool and drone batteries, well really any battery that needs charging. The system handles that without any issues.
So instead of saving up for another miner, I am saving up to build another solar power system to run the ones I have to cut the costs! So there you have it! That's my mining update. Hope I can inspire you to build your own infrastructure to help support these blockchains and earn some coin while you are at it!
