Those who follow me around here will know that the type of photography I most enjoy doing is travel photography: landscapes, streets, situations... but you can't always travel, and as I also like to experiment, every time I leave my house I try to look for ideas to keep practicing. Today, for example, I set out to get closer to my goals, something I have done very little, and here is what I saw.
Los que me siguen por aquí sabrán que el tipo de fotografía que más disfruto hacer es la de viajes: paisajes, calles, situaciones... pero no siempre se puede viajar, y como también me gusta experimentar, cada vez que salgo de mi casa procuro buscar ideas para seguir practicando. Hoy por ejemplo me propuse aproximarme a mis objetivos, algo que he hecho muy poco, y aquí está lo que vi.
The place I went to is a small square located in a residential area, not many people usually pass by. It is very nice, but unfortunately they do very little maintenance, so there are dry leaves everywhere, some broken floors and some neglect in the care of the plants.
El lugar al que fui es una pequeña plaza situada en una zona residencial, no suele pasar mucha gente por aquí. Es muy lindo, pero lamentablemente le hacen muy poco mantenimiento, por lo que hay hojas secas por todos lados, algunos pisos rotos y algo de descuido en el cuidado de las plantas.
In spite of this, nature wins out, and since we are in the rainy season, everything is green and in bloom, so I focused on that, on seeing these beauties up close, ignoring the lack of maintenance around them.
A pesar de esto, la naturaleza sale ganando, y como estamos en temporada de lluvias, todo está verde y florecido, entonces me enfoqué en eso, en ver estas bellezas de cerca, ignorando la falta de mantenimiento a su alrededor.
As I was taking my shots, I noticed the diversity of plants in this small space, I don't know if the planting of these was the work of the mayor's office, but other times I have come here I have seen the neighbors cleaning and fixing the area, so I guess that much of what is here has been put here by them.
Mientras iba haciendo mis tomas, me di cuenta de la diversidad de plantas que hay en este pequeño espacio, no sé si la siembra de estas fue obra de la alcaldía, pero otras veces que he venido he visto a los vecinos limpiando y arreglando la zona, así que supongo que mucho de lo que hay aquí lo han puesto ellos.
I approached the trunks of several trees that caught my attention to continue taking close-ups. One stood out because of its rough texture, the second because a branch had been cut in its middle and other plants had grown there, and the third had a variety of colors at its base, which seemed to be the result of fire.
Me acerqué a los troncos de varios árboles que me llamaron la atención para seguir tomando primeros planos. Uno destacaba por su textura rugosa, el segundo porque en su mitad habían cortado una rama y allí crecieron otras plantas, y el tercero presentaba variedad de colores en su base, esto parecía ser el resultado de un incendio.
Apart from the mango trees, there are also coconut trees here, they were full of coconuts, but too high to reach.
Aparte de los mangos, aquí también hay cocoteros, estaban llenos de cocos, pero demasiado altos para alcanzarlos.
The ones that were close by were the prickly pears or cactus, there are some that have edible fruits that are very tasty (and expensive in the market), but this one seems to be of another species. I really like its shape, it seems to me a very photogenic plant, what do you think?
Las que sí estaban cerca eran las tunas o cactus, hay algunas que tienen frutos comestibles que son muy sabrosos (y caros en el mercado), pero esta parece ser de otra especie. Me gusta mucho su forma, me parece una planta muy fotogénica, ¿ustedes qué opinan?
Finally I came across a small pine tree, it is right next to the cactus. The green of its leaves is so vibrant that you can't stop looking at it.
Por último me encontré con un pequeño pino, está justo al lado del cactus. El verde de sus hojas es tan vibrante que no puedes dejar de mirarlo.
I was almost leaving the square when I saw a movement among the plants, it was a beautiful cat. It sat down for a moment to watch me before running away and that was the end of this photographic approach walk.
Ya casi me iba de la plaza cuando vi un movimiento entre las plantas, era un precioso gato. Se sentó un momento a observarme antes de salir corriendo y ahí se acabó este paseo de acercamiento fotográfico.
