The presale for Conclave Arcana was undeniably successful, selling over $2.4 Million in sales as it ends on May 11, 2025 and on May 13, 2025, Conclave Arcana was released, replacing Chaos Legion in Modern ranked battle. Players then spend no time to open their packs, pulling crazy cards including the Black foil and Arcane cards and used them in battles.

To celebrate the launch of the new set, The Splinterlands team has decided to temporarily waived the Wild pass so that players can try and experiment the new game mechanics with their old cards in Wild format. At the same time, they also temporarily disabled Survival mode, wraping up the version 1.0 of the game.

And so, for this week's Community Engagement Challenge, I will take a look on the Wild Formant and share my honest thoughts on it.

Wild Format Situation

For a long time, Wild Format has been the place were bots and Battle Helper has been allowed and has been until today. As a result of this, Bot farms has plague the Wild Format where many of them only uses Soulbound cards to play, continuously farming SPS without investing or owning any assets. In an attempt to mitigate the extraction by this bot farms, Splinterlands implemented a Wild Season Pass that players will need to purchase if they want to play in Wild as part of SPS Proposal 130 that was passed by the community. It did what it needs to do and removes most if not all the bot farms but at the same time, it probably also resulted to some players either move to Modern or quit the game, particularly on the lower leagues where the fee does not justify the earnings.

But What's A Wild Season Pass?

pass.png

Wild pass allows players to play in Wild Format at the cost of 2,000 DEC/DEC-B or Credits each season. Previously, it was also payable using 40 Voucher but then removed in order to not take utility from DEC. All the tokens that was spent on Wild pass were then burned to reduce token inflation.

But then for this season, the need for Wild pass has been waived to give players the opportunity to test out Conclave Arcana synergies with their old cards, particularly with how Archons will interact with old cards that now have their specific race that can benefit from Bloodline Dominion.

Was That The Case?

For what I see by looking on the top battles on each league and on the 108 battles that I played in wild using my alt account @agonyaccepted, I do not see any players that used Conclave Arcana Cards. Possible reason for this is that because the rewards on Modern was significantly higher compared to Wild so most players who owns Conclave Arcana rather to to play Modern. Another reason I can think of is that the program that runs the bots in Wild has not adapted yet in the new set which is also part of the reason why the liquidity bots in modern was having lots of surrender.

Also, facing against bots in wild was not fun because while they may not be using Conclave Arcana card yet, they were super optimized when using the older card sets so I do not think that it will be fun testing the new cards that most of the players barely know how to use against the bots.

And if I or any player really want to test the new cards, there is always the Training Mode where they can play with training bots or can Challenge other players without the need of energy. Then just play modern to get the most of their SPS rewards.

So What's Happening Then?

So what's happening now in Wild is that, the number of daily battles played since the start of the season has become doubled compared to when there is a Wild pass. The most likely reason for this is that players that owns Chaos Legion Cards has now started to play/bot in wild. Surprisingly, I also see accounts that owns large collection of Rebellion cards that I also used to battle in modern to play in wild. Perhaps, they were just taking a break from playing the game manually for this season.

Comparing Wild and Modern Earnings

Like what I said, rewards in modern is significantly higher in modern compared to wild and by how much you ask? I tried to play a few wild battles and the highest I get was 4.916 SPS at 3500 rating while in modern of the same rating, I get 14.727 SPS. That's almost 10 SPS difference but the thing to consider is that the SPS multiplier required in wild is double of that in modern.

Closing

So yeah, while the Wild Pass has been waived this season, most of the players have not really use it to test their cards. Maybe they will on the following days as we are still early into the season and like I said, if they really want to test the new set along with the old cards, there was always the Challenge and Training Grounds where they will have the access on cards, including the ones that they do not own so it's still more preferable as it does not consume energy.

Thank you and see you on the next post!
