Cancer is one of the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020.
I remember when I saw a woman with breast cancer, the pain and Agony in this woman eyes was something I never want to imagine for my enemy. She was to be operated and her Left Breast was to be cut off. Cancers are so deadly that they can easily spread to the other surrounding tissues, the cure and treatment can also be very expensive, this particular woman I was talking about needed up to 4 million naira to perform her surgery.
She have gone to many prominent people in the town, but they all turned her down, even to churches and also pleaded online for support, yet she is yet to raise up to a quarter of what was needed for the surgery.
It has really not been an easy thing to do in Nigeria. Getting support in Nigeria is not an easy thing, if you don't know people of substance, you might be helpless.
There are many types of Cancer.
But what if I had the cure of every type of cancer in my blood. Maybe I needed to be taken to the laboratory severally for several tests and other scientific reasons.
Can I actually avail myself to the doctors and research of the world for the sake of curing a life threatening diseases?
My answer Is a big YES.
I would be taking that lady with breast cancer as a drive, I wouldn't hesitate to bring myself down as a test subjects to big pharmacies and research centers.
Just Imagine being the only person in the world with a gene that holds the key to curing cancer. This extraordinary circumstance would undoubtedly come with immense responsibility and scrutiny. Becoming a lab subject in such a scenario would be a personal sacrifice for the greater good of humanity.
Me personally have seen Lab rats and other animals used as experimental tools, imagining myself being under the same situation is an overwhelming thought.
First of all the Weight of Discovery in itself is overwhelming.
Someone like me Having a gene that cures cancer would present an unprecedented opportunity to contribute to medical science and potentially save countless lives, someone like that woman with breast cancer may just use the drugs and there won't be need for surgery again, those countless of lives dying because of lack of precise medicine to counter the effects of the cancerous cells in people. The discovery would likely attract global attention, with scientists, researchers, and medical professionals clamoring to study and understand the gene's properties.
I Would avail myself to be used to get the solution to tackling and eradicating cancer but there are some measures that I would have to put in place before accepting such.
Firstly I would like to bring some lawyers that would ensure my rights are not tampered with ensuring that I am treated fairly and with respect throughout the research process.. Also I would make sure my family get to be with me, if not in very close but they would always get to hear from me.
