Ein “peer-to-peer electronic cash system”, so lautete das Whitepaper von Satoshi Nakamoto. Es war digitales Cash, das nicht von den zentralen Banken kontrolliert werden konnte. Obwohl Satoshi Nakamoto offenbar schon Jahre und womöglich Jahrzehnte in die Forschung investiert hatte, fiel der Coin Launch von Bitcoin in das Jahr 2009 – zufälligerweise mit der damaligen Finanzkrise zusammen.
Doch der Entwickler Satoshi Nakamoto stieg bereits wenige Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung aus der Entwicklung von Bitcoin aus.
Empfänger der letzten Nachricht war der Bitcoin Core-Entwickler Mike Hearn, der sich mit Satoshi Nakamoto direkt über die Entwicklung von Bitcoin und damit verbundenen Herausforderungen austauschte.

Mit diesen Worten verschwand Satoshi Nakamoto von der Bildfläche.
Es handelte sich bei dem Entwickler um Gavin Andresen. Dieser arbeitete seit 2010 an der Entwicklung von Bitcoin mit. Dabei erhielt er schrittweise mehr Vertrauen von Satoshi Nakamoto, da er guten Code und ein hohes Engagement zeigte. Nakamoto übergab ihm daraufhin die Kontrolle über das Bitcoin-Code-Repository auf SourceForge, was damals etwa das Äquivalent von GitHub war.
Darin äußerte er seinen Wunsch, dass Andresen ihn nicht als „mysteriöse Schattengestalt“ darstellen solle. Dies würde den Eindruck verstärken, dass Bitcoin eine “Piratenwährung” (pirate currency) wäre.
Stattdessen solle er den Fokus auf das Open-Source-Projekt und die Entwickler-Community legen.
Andresen antwortete auf diese Email noch und erwähnte, dass er von einer CIA-Organisation eingeladen worden ist, um Bitcoin vorzustellen. Danach meldete Nakamoto sich nicht mehr.
Andresen sollte später in der Bitcoin-Community in Ungnade fallen. 2015 wurde Dr Craig S Wright von den Magazinen Wired und Gizmodo als Erfinder von Bitcoin gedoxxt. Viele Bitcoiner hielten dies für unmöglich und forderten Beweise von Craig Wright, wobei der Private Key zum Genesis Block oder zu bekannten Adressen von Satoshi Nakamotos Krypto Wallet als Beweis gefordert wurde.
Die Bitcoin-Community entfernte Andresen aus der Bitcoin-Entwicklung, nachdem Andresen öffentlich bekanntgegeben hatte, dass er überzeugt sei, Bitcoin sei von Craig Wright entwickelt worden.
Inzwischen glaubt allerdings auch Andresen nicht mehr, dass Wright tatsächlich der Erfinder von Bitcoin ist, dass es sich bei Wright um einen Lügner handelt.

Although Satoshi Nakamoto had apparently invested years, possibly decades, in research, the Bitcoin coin launch took place in 2009 – coincidentally, with the financial crisis at the time.
However, the developer Satoshi Nakamoto withdrew from Bitcoin development just a few years after its release.
The recipient of the last message was Bitcoin Core developer Mike Hearn, who spoke directly with Satoshi Nakamoto about the development of Bitcoin and the challenges associated with it.

With these words, Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared from the scene.
The developer in question was Gavin Andresen, who had been working on the development of Bitcoin since 2010. He gradually gained more trust from Satoshi Nakamoto as he demonstrated good code and high levels of commitment. Nakamoto then gave him control of the Bitcoin code repository on SourceForge, which was roughly the equivalent of GitHub at the time.
In it, he expressed his wish that Andresen not portray him as a "mysterious shadowy figure." This would reinforce the impression that Bitcoin was a "pirate currency."
Instead, he should focus on the open source project and the developer community.
Andresen responded to this email, mentioning that he had been invited by a CIA organization to present Bitcoin. Nakamoto never contacted him again afterward.
Andresen would later fall from grace in the Bitcoin community. In 2015, Dr. Craig S. Wright was doxxed as the inventor of Bitcoin by Wired and Gizmodo magazines. Many Bitcoiners considered this impossible and demanded proof from Craig Wright, demanding the private key to the Genesis Block or known addresses of Satoshi Nakamoto's crypto wallet as proof.
The Bitcoin community removed Andresen from Bitcoin development after Andresen publicly announced that he was convinced Bitcoin was developed by Craig Wright.
However, Andresen no longer believes that Wright is actually the inventor of Bitcoin, and that Wright is a liar.
