W związku z wczorajszymi wyborami prezydenckimi wybraliśmy się do Brukseli, aby spełnić obowiązek obywatelski, a przy okazji trochę poszwendać się po mieście. Centrum znamy bardzo dobrze, ale zawsze znajdzie się coś, co nas zaskoczy. Kilka kroków od Grand Place znajduje się Maison Dandoy – miejsce z goframi i lodami, do którego zwykle ustawia się długa kolejka. Wczoraj kolejka była krótsza i ponieważ żona miała ochotę na gofra, postanowiliśmy spróbować ich wyrobów. Gofry i kawa były smaczne, choć nie na tyle, abyśmy ustawiali się w kolejce podczas następnej wizyty w Brukseli.
[ENG] In connection with yesterday's presidential elections, we went to Brussels to fulfill our civic duty and, at the same time, wander around the city a bit. We know the city center very well, but there's always something that surprises us. A few steps from the Grand Place is Maison Dandoy – a place with waffles and ice cream, where there's usually a long queue. Yesterday the queue was shorter, and since my wife wanted a waffle, we decided to try their products. The waffles and coffee were tasty, though not enough for us to queue up during our next visit to Brussels.
Tradycyjnie Grand Place i okolice tętniły życiem turystów, a na nich zastawiane są różnorodne pułapki mające na celu wyciągnięcie jak najwięcej pieniędzy z ich kieszeni. Jak inaczej określić wódkę Manneken Pis? Mały sikający chłopiec, symbol Brukseli, jest obecny na setkach pamiątek, a teraz trafił również na butelkę wódki. Chłopiec na fontannie często jest przebierany w okolicznościowe stroje; wczoraj miał na sobie strój „Karabela” z okazji święta flagi Haiti. Z kolei Jeanneke Pis nie jest przebierana często, a jedynie w wyjątkowych sytuacjach, takich jak Pride Week.
[ENG] Traditionally, the Grand Place and its surroundings were bustling with tourists, and various traps are set for them to extract as much money from their pockets as possible. How else to describe Manneken Pis vodka? The little peeing boy, the symbol of Brussels, is present on hundreds of souvenirs, and now he has also ended up on a bottle of vodka. The boy on the fountain is often dressed in occasional costumes; yesterday he was wearing a "Karabela" outfit for Haiti's Flag Day. In contrast, Jeanneke Pis is not dressed up often, only in exceptional situations, such as Pride Week.
Po powrocie do Mons wyszedłem jeszcze na wieczorny jogging. Planowałem przebiec dychę, ale nie byłem pewien, czy mi się uda. Okazało się, że nie doceniałem swojej determinacji i bez problemów pokonałem zamierzony dystans.
[ENG] After returning to Mons, I went for an evening jog. I planned to run a ten-kilometer distance, but I wasn't sure if I would manage. It turned out that I underestimated my determination, and I covered the intended distance without any problems.
