Hey everyone, after a lot of consideration and thought we wanted to announce the new POSH and GOSH activities on chain.

In this post, we'll be going through some of the thoughts behind it, how we think the activities are best to be used and rewarded, some more thoughts regarding the usecase, and later discuss how-to perform them within our scope.

The Why

We can't continue to rely on web2 walled gardens to provide free or low cost API service to us and others long-term, as we saw with Twitter all of a sudden it can just go away and render one of our most used marketing tool projects useless. The same thing may happen with other initiatives we may work on and fine-tune such as @redditposh. This idea proposed here is meant to make sure that even if this is repeated down the line we can always rely on manual submissions of POSH and GOSH activities (going in depth about GOSH later).

Furthermore, a lot of web2 platforms may require too much dev work, maintenance and other restrictions to build everything in an automated way as to how Twitter POSH worked before and how @redditposh works now. With manual sharing and manual curators this may require a bit of extra work but instead enable us to reward sharing on any platforms as long as it benefits the outreach of Hive.

While manual submissions may take a bit longer, being rewarded for it may make up for the extra few seconds it may take people to submit their shares manually. It may also filter some shares that may not have done that well since the sharer may have learned that those won't get rewarded, so they won't bother sharing them to begin with.

The Snap

With snaps and other short form content having entered our ecosystem, we want to utilize that to fully revive the manual POSH initiatives while keeping things as spam-free as we can for those who enjoy snaps/other shortform content without all the POSH and GOSH activities. We have planned this feature out in collaboration with @asgarth of the @peakd team for POSH and GOSH snaps posted in the Hiveposh Community to not show in the regular Snaps feed. This means that if you're sharing them in the right place, the people browsing regular Snaps will not be seeing your submissions. Your submissions will however still be in the same hive post container, meaning they'll still be eligible for @commentrewarder tips and curation from our POSH curators going through the Hiveposh snaps feed.

This solution will help to keep regular and POSH&GOSH snaps apart from each other so regular snappers won't get flooded by POSH&GOSH snaps while allowing those interested in participating to share through the Hiveposh community if they want to be curated and rewarded for their sharing activity.

The POSH - Proof of Sharing

POSH activities will work quite similar as in the past, everything that isn't already automated and in working order such as @redditposh and @blueskyposh will go here. Users will be asked to tag #posh and the front-end they're sharing on along with a link and/or screenshot if the web2 platform is login-walled. I.e. if people without an account can't see the share or how well it's performed on a web2 platform you'll have to include a screenshot of the share and certain metrics that may only be visible to you.

This means you will be able to share POSH activity on any web2 platform as long as it attempts to bring traffic to ours in one way or another. This part will be quite experimental moving forward as we do want to reward good sharing activity but if certain shares make it difficult/hard for the activity to bring people to our front-ends/ecosystem then we will have to tread carefully as to what deserves curation and what doesn't, we hope you'll be patient with us as we set ground rules and a base-line in this scenario.

The GOSH - Go Share

This one will be a bit new and it might revive the GOSH token with it. GOSH stands for "Go Share" and with this initiative, we want to reward people for their "boost" activity of our web2 efforts. This one may require some more explanation so bear with me.

Every memetoken or rugpull in the space encourages their community to go out and "boost" their tweets, replies and other activities. Many of those do this for their own bags with most of them being tokens that aren't going to see the light of day by next winter. They do this because they've invested their money hoping to sell their holdings at a higher price or are being paid by the creators to do so. There may even be some legit ones but point is we know Hive is legit and it allows anyone and everyone to come participate and earn tokens for their efforts. We should not sit back and relax and only focus on on-chain actions on Hive but participate in this as well.

With this initiative, there may be some accounts that we ourselves are going to attempt to request "boosts". For instance the official Hive account on Twitter. If you see snaps that start with the tag #gosh, this means that we're asking you to help that tweet/other out by giving it a like, a retweet and/or a beneficial and relevant response. The sooner these are out the better, which means if you're one of those people out there in the trenches looking for relevant tweets to bring attention to Hive, you have the best chance to #gosh your own activity and ask others to boost it up by sharing it in our snap section.

Gosh will attempt to reward not just those asking for requests with #gosh depending on how well they do, but everyone proving that they've liked, retweeted and/or replied to it. This means most of your web2 activities if done in favor of Hive can earn some Hive and some GOSH token rewards.

Boosting good replies can be invaluable for Hive, let's take into example a prominent Hive user like @theycallmedan. If he notices a tweet asking for decentralized social media in web3 and he makes a twitterthread discussing Hive early and then links to it in Hiveposh snaps with #gosh, we can now all get notified and be quick to support his reply which will boost it up past all the other bot/AI/memetoken replies to give it more light, and best of all we can support it in a more genuine and natural way while also being rewarded for it.

GOSH may not be limited to asking for boosts on Twitter alone, although a majority might stem from there as it's filled with crypto folks and we have deep roots there already due to previous Twitter POSH activity encouraging many to get active and form connections with hivers and others. We may also ask users to help out in other metrics from time to time and try and reward as many as we can relative to the time and effort that went into participating along with @commentrewarder tips taking us into consideration as well.

Keep in mind that this is all experimental to begin with and we'll improve as we go.

The notifications

For those wanting to effectively support the #gosh initiative, we've set up a bot that will place new #gosh snaps in the OCD discord under the #gosh channel. This allows those with spare time and wanting to help hive outreach out to quickly get to a snap requesting a boost in outreach/visibility to add their like, retweet, reply and what have you. Those being first to assist will naturally get a little extra rewards but keep in mind everything will still remain manually curated and rewarded, which brings us to our next point.

We may broaden our notification system later to include more alerts if the community deems them worthy.

The spam

We don't want people to request #gosh boosts on anything and everything, this feature albeit open to anyone currently, will be kept under strict observation so it doesn't pain hive in a bad picture on other platforms due to spam/repetitive comments, etc.

Make sure you snap in the HivePOSH community only, not in the general snaps section

In the events that some accounts don't heed our warnings about toning certain activity down we will have to mute the accounts with our curation accounts and ban them from any POSH/GOSH rewards and potentially also from @commentrewarder.

Even though some token communities go through all lengths it doesn't mean we have to or that it helps the image of hive and we won't tolerate such bad activities from being rewarded by bad actors.

How to participate

image.png

  • tag it with #posh OR #gosh depending on if you're sharing your share or looking for a boost on your activity

Rewards

POSH and GOSH activities can go a bit hand in hand for those interested in participating, this means that if you see a #posh snap and have the time and want to give it a like and re-tweet/blog/share or leave a comment you can still feel free to and we may reward that as well even if the POSH'er wasn't requesting for it unless they explicitly ask you not to. Keep in mind however to focus your #gosh activities on early #posh and #gosh snaps as those will be most efficient.

  • @poshtoken and other accounts will reward good shares and boosts with hive votes
  • @poshtoken and team may create daily or weekly compilation posts highlighting some of the best POSHers and GOSHers to reward their curation, while giving out POSH and GOSH tokens to participants highlighted
  • @commentrewarder tips based on votes and engagement your #posh and #gosh activities received

Again, I want to let everyone reading this know that these are the very early stages of this initiative, we may be limited to curators early on and manpower to assist all activities and will adapt as time goes on. There may be additional rules and restrictions placed upon certain activities to make sure it isn't placing Hive in a bad light or countering the idea behind this initiative.

Shout-out to other projects generating POSH-like initiatives and activities on-chain as they're quite overlooked sometimes such as @hive-echo and @coldbeetrootsoup. Hopefully we can see a much bigger part of the rewardspool start going towards outreach and traffic generating initiatives in the future.

If you want to support this initiative, consider delegating to @poshtoken which gives delegators some POSH tokens in exchange and soon even GOSH tokens again while we await better usecases and sinks for the tokens.

If you have any questions or concern, please ask in the comment section or reach out to us on Discord!

Sending part of the author rewards to @hivetrending for helping out with the Notifications and @x-rain who's been helping out a lot with POSH curation.
